This notice explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or get in touch with us, why we collect it, what we do with it, and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it short and readable. If anything is unclear, please ask us – the contact details are below.
1. Who we are
Wyzen Limited is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17369536. Our registered office is at Flat 5, Water Lane House, 5 Water Lane, Richmond, TW9 1TJ.
For the information described in this notice, Wyzen Limited is the data controller – meaning we decide why and how it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.

2. What this notice covers
This notice applies to our website at https://wyzen.energy and to enquiries you make by email, telephone or through the site. It also covers marketing communications we send you.
If you become a client or supplier, we will give you a separate, fuller notice covering the information we handle in the course of that relationship. If you apply for a job with us, we will give you a recruitment privacy notice.
This notice does not cover other websites we link to. Once you follow a link away from our site, the operator of that site is responsible for your information, and you should read their privacy notice.
3. What information we collect
We collect only what we need. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:
- Information you give us – your name, email address, telephone number, organisation and job title, and the content of any message, enquiry or document you send us.
- Information you give us if you sign up for updates – your name and email address, and your preferences.
- Information collected automatically when you visit – your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site or search term that brought you here. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, and only where you have consented to non-essential cookies.
- Information from third parties – publicly available business information, for example from a company website, LinkedIn or a public register, where we are researching a potential client or partner.
We do not ask for, and would prefer you did not send us, sensitive information such as health details through the website. We do not knowingly collect information about children, and our site is not directed at them.
4. How and why we use your information
The law requires us to have a valid reason – a “lawful basis” – for using your personal information. The table below sets out what we do, what we use, and the basis we rely on.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether our interest is fair to you and whether you would reasonably expect us to use your information in that way. You can object to this at any time – see “Your rights” below – and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason not to.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use two kinds:
- Essential cookies, which are needed for the site to work – for example remembering your cookie choices. These do not require your consent.
- Analytics cookies, which tell us how the site is being used so we can improve it. These are only set if you agree, and you can change your mind at any time.
When you first visit, you will be asked whether to accept non-essential cookies. You can accept, reject, or choose which categories to allow, and rejecting them will not stop you using the site. To change your choice later, use the cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or clear cookies in your browser settings.
The site also sets a single preference cookie, wyzen-theme, when you use the theme toggle. It remembers only the theme you chose (light, dark or high-contrast) so the choice persists across pages. It contains no identifier, is not shared with anyone, and is never used for tracking.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track you across other websites.
6. Marketing and how to stop it
If you have asked to hear from us, or if you work for an organisation we think would find our work relevant, we may send you occasional updates about what we do.
Every message we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also reply to any message asking us to stop, or email us at privacy@wyzen.energy. We will act on it promptly and permanently, and we will keep a minimal record of your objection so that we do not contact you again by mistake.
We will never sell your information, and we do not buy marketing lists.
7. Who we share your information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We share it only where necessary, with:
- Service providers who help us run the business – for example our email and cloud storage provider, website host, customer relationship management system, and accountants. They act on our instructions, under a written contract, and may not use your information for their own purposes.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, insurers or auditors, where we need their advice or they need the information to provide their service.
- Regulators, law enforcement or other authorities, where we are legally required to disclose it.
- A buyer or successor, if we sell or reorganise the business – in which case we will tell you.
On request we will tell you which providers we currently use.
8. Where your information is stored
We aim to use providers who store data in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Some of the tools we rely on are provided by companies based outside the UK, which means your information may be transferred there.
Where that happens, we make sure an appropriate safeguard is in place – either the destination country is covered by UK adequacy regulations, or we use the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses, so that your information keeps an equivalent level of protection. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that do not lead anywhere: 12 months from your last contact with us.
- Client and supplier records: 6 years after the end of the relationship, to match the period in which a legal claim could be brought.
- Marketing subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, and then a minimal record of your objection indefinitely so that we honour it.
- Website analytics: 14 months.
- Anything we must keep for tax or accounting purposes: 6 years, as required by law.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it so that it can no longer identify you.
10. Your rights
You have the following rights over your personal information. They are free to use, and you do not need to give a reason for most of them.
- Access – ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and for an explanation of how we use it.
- Correction – ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure – ask us to delete your information where we have no good reason to keep it.
- Restriction – ask us to pause using your information while a question about it is resolved.
- Portability – ask us to provide certain information in a machine-readable format, or send it to another organisation.
- Objection – object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests. You can object to direct marketing at any time and we must stop.
- Withdraw consent – where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any right, email privacy@wyzen.energy or write to us at the address above. We will respond within one month. If your request is complex we may need up to two further months, and we will tell you within the first month if that is the case. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we disclose anything, to make sure we are not giving your information to someone else.
11. How we keep your information safe
We take security seriously and use measures appropriate to the risk, including multi-factor authentication on our systems, encryption of the devices we use, restricted access on a need-to-know basis, and written contracts with the providers who handle information for us.
No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send us anything highly sensitive by email without asking us for a secure method first. If something does go wrong and there is a risk to you, we will tell you and explain what to do.
12. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time – for example if we start using a new tool, or if the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where a change is significant, we will draw attention to it on the site, and where we hold your contact details and the change materially affects you, we will contact you.
We recommend checking this page occasionally so that you know what we do with your information.
13. How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first at privacy@wyzen.energy. We would rather hear from you and put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK regulator for data protection. You can do so at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
Complaining to us first does not affect your right to go to the regulator.
